A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Success also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to create a final set.

Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
